The RIWAS is a registered charity, and all of our work is only possible through the support of our members. We support Island agriculture and the conservation of the natural environment; raise awareness and promote rural issues to all Island residents; and we offer financial support to help Island students further their studies in agriculture, the natural environment and land-based studies. Since the Rural Careers Fund launched in 2011 we have awarded nearly £30,000 of scholarships and bursaries to Island students, bringing skills and qualifications back to the Isle of Wight's rural economy.
We also operate the Wight Marque food provenance scheme to support the local food sector - enabling customers to guarantee that they are purchasing truly local food and drink if it carries the Wight Marque logo.
Our biggest event each year is the Royal Isle of Wight County Show, next held on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June 2022, which is the only Island event which combines agriculture, livestock and equestrian events with traditional entertainment. We are proud to promote everything that makes the Island's agricultural and rural sectors special.
Corporate members also receive four additional passes to the County Show, the opportunity to display a corporate banner around the Main Ring, and a complimentary advert in the Show Guide.
