Wight Marque

Local food for local people

The Isle of Wight has an abundance of quality food and drink produce, well established by growers, farmers and chefs that are renowned for their passion for local produce.

Founded by the Royal Isle of Wight Agricultural Society, Wight Marque is a scheme which clearly identifies individual products truly from the Isle of Wight.

Producers, retailers, restaurants and hospitality businesses can all join Wight Marque if they meet the scheme criteria. Look out for the Wight Marque symbol, the sign of Island authenticity.

To be eligible to display the Wight Marque logo, products must be grown, raised, reared, caught, laid or fished on the Isle of Wight. Processed products must contain raw ingredients from other Wight Marque members where available.

Processed products, where the main ingredient is not grown, reared or commercially available on the Island must be 100% processed here.

When a restaurant displays the Wight Marque symbol it means they are genuinely committed to creating menus using local and seasonal ingredients. For a shop, the Marque is a sign that they are supporting local food businesses by stocking a range of Wight Marque accredited stock.

70% of Island residents said they would buy local if they could. Working together under the Wight Marque banner allows businesses to strengthen their local provenance visibility.

Why is the Wight Marque scheme important?

When you buy local food, you support the local economy and that means you’re helping fellow Islanders.  You also get to enjoy the amazing food and drink made on the Isle of Wight. Working together with Wight Marque allows businesses to promote Island food and drink under one clear banner.
